January 2022 Newsletter

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Greetings and blessings from Frosinone, Italia!

We wanted to ring in the New Year with an update on Operation Italy and La Chiesa Christiana Evangelica in Frosinone, Italy. When we last wrote you, we had spoken about seeing the “light at the end of the proverbial tunnel” as it relates to COVID, and the delta and omicron strains have dimmed that light a bit. We are thankful, though, that the latest strain isn’t as strong as its previous version. All we can do is pray for each other, and that God would grant us the wisdom to make the necessary decisions to keep our families and loved ones safe.

In the meantime, we move forward and do our best to live life during a pandemic. Although evangelization in the streets has stalled during this time, the church continues with services in a safe and responsible manner, and as mandated by the government in terms of COVID protocols. It hasn’t discouraged our brothers and sisters from joining together to worship God, and we are thankful for that.

We are excited to announce that Pastor Mario, the associate pastor under the late Abele Aureli, has decided to lead a group of brothers and sisters to form a church in what used to be his old mechanic’s shop. It’s amazing to see how much he has grown as a pastor and leader, and to know that the church is in good hands.

We also want to tell the story of Ivano Cavaricci, the younger brother of Anna. I remember the days when Abele would spend countless hours at a time deep in conversation with him about Christ, and how Ivano would just laugh him off. But Abele was persistent, and Anna prayed repeatedly until one day Ivano’s heart was opened, and he let Jesus in. Over the several years Abele would disciple him, and he would grow into a faithful servant of Christ. Ivano now serves in the church in Frosinone and has been a huge help to the family. It’s great to see the seeds sown years ago are blossoming in Christ.

We want to thank you for the many prayers that have made their way toward us. We feel the strength that comes with them. We are also thankful for the financial support you continue to provide. Anna is in desperate need of it, and there’s much work to do, and your prayers and financial support are very much appreciated.

In the Love of Christ,

Operation Italy
